Code Snippets

description

Hi there

I've just watched the "Getting Started" screencast and then used NuGet to download and install the software. I'm running Windows 8.1 and VS2013 Prof. In the video there is much talk of Code Snippets. I have restarted VS, but still no code snippets. Is this normal? Is it possible to download them separately?

Thanks,
   David

The code snippets are now included in v5.0.1 of the VSIX installer, which you can get from within Visual Studio by going to Tools, Extensions and Updates, and searching for Simple Mvvm.

The drawback is that addition of code snippets to the VSIX installer may restrict it to VS 2013 Pro or above. If you are running a VS 2013 Express edition, you should instead download v5.0.0 from the CodePlex site and install the code snippets manually from source.

Cheers,
Tony

C# code snippets and XAML snippets have both been improved in v5.5.0.1 of the toolkit.

Hi Tony,

many of us with VS 2013 Express would be extremely thankful if you could put snippets in a Zip file and attach them here.

Great news - I just posted a zip file with the code snippets to the latest release: Just click on the link SimpleMvvmToolkit.CodeSnippets, to download a zip file with the code and xml snippets.

To install them, just open up your local Documents folder, Visual Studio (select a version), Code Snippets.

Then copy the snippets from inside the "Code Snippets" folder in the zip file to:
Visual C#\My Code Snippets.

If you have VS2013 you can then copy the snippets from inside the "XmlSnippets" folder in the zip file to:
XAML\My XAML Snippets. If you have VS 2012 or earlier, they can go inside: XML\My Xml Snippets.

Cheers!
Tony
